Gum overgrowth or enlargement can occur due to plaque and tartar deposits on teeth, with certain class of drugs like anti-epileptics, certain anti-hypertensives and immunosuppressants, vitamin C deficiency, during pregnancy or at puberty, leukemia, during orthodontic treatment or may even be hereditary or of unknown etiology.
