TODAY's ORAL HEALTH UPDATE: As the mercury dips this season, complaints of tooth sensitivity are on a rise. Here are some tips to manage tooth sensitivity- 1) Identify the location (localized to a tooth/generalized) and cause of sensitivity (consult a dentist). A tooth cavity may be the cause of sensitivity or wearing away of a tooth surface(s) or gum recession. 2) Treatment of localized sensitivity- filling of cavities, tooth abrasions etc. Application of protective fluoride varnish. 3) Correcting the toothbrush, brushing technique and force. Use of a soft toothbrush is advisable. 4) For chronic/generalized sensitivity, a desensitizing paste & mouthwash is advisable. Use of Colgate Sensitive Pro Relief, Thermoseal RA toothpaste or Sensodyne etc. and sensitivity mouthwash Hiora K.
